Relationship
Living Abundantly
According to God's Word Series
Reading Time: 5 minutes
God's desire has always been to have a relationship with man. He created Adam and talked with him. He knew that Adam needed a helpmate so He made Eve. God provided everything for Adam and Eve and talked to them. We know that God had Adam name the animals. God taught Adam and Eve how to tend the garden successfully.
Our family is modeled after God's relationship with His children. The parents provide for the family and teach them the right course for a healthy and successful life. Kids learn to obey or receive the consequences. Of course this is a model family and I know not all families work this way, especially if the parents have not been taught correctly themselves.
God taught Adam & Eve that they could eat of every tree of the garden except the Tree of Good and Evil. It was their choice to obey. However, they got talked out of the truth. God said "thou shalt surely die," an absolute, and the serpent, satan, said "lest ye die," a possibility, but not an absolute.
God gave us all free will. If there is no choice we would not have a choice to love. Love and obedience is not something that can be demanded. We are free to love God and talk to Him. We are free to hear that still small voice and listen, remember and obey. And we are free not to.
When Adam and Eve disobeyed they died spiritually. They lost their direct connection with God. In order for God to communicate with man after that God had to put spirit upon a person or He had to reach them through their five senses (the burning bush for Moses). Previously God talked to them through the spirit that was His image upon them. (see Body, Soul and Spirit). They lost that spirit when they let satan talk them out of God's Word and into disobedience. The serpent had convinced them that he knew more than God. This makes me stop and think: How am I am getting talked out of God's instructions and guidance?
God, being omniscient, knew this was going to happen so He provided a saviour for us; a man, born of a woman. Mary conceived the Christ Child, the only begotten Son of God, by Him creating perfect seed in her. Jesus had to be a lamb of the flock, a perfect sacrifice, to redeem us so we could enter back into a relationship with God.
Up until this time God sent His law and commandments so His children could prosper and be in health. The law was also a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ, the messiah. We needed to know that we couldn't make ourselves righteous and cleansed to that we could stand before God and commune with Him. Adam and Eve had acted outside of God's instruction with devastating results. The law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ.
Galatians 3
:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law,
shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ,
that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
After the faith of Jesus Christ came we are no longer under that schoolmaster. We are now children of God. He placed His holy spirit, the gift, in us so that we can communicate with Him again. We can enter into His gates with praise and thanksgiving. We have access to our All Mighty God and Heavenly Father. Like Jesus Christ, we have the authority and privilege to carry out His will here in this age. We can communicate directly with God again.
God carries out His promises, we simply accept them. It is not by our works that we receive His holy spirit but by obedience, by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and believing that God raised him from the dead. (Romans 10:9-10) Then the Faith of Jesus Christ comes into our lives and we are justified by that faith.
Foster that relationship that God has provided for us through Christ. Take time to talk with God and listen. He has given to us nine manifestation of holy spirit: speaking in tongues, tongues with interpretation, prophecy, word of knowledge, word of wisdom, discerning of spirits, faith, working of miracles, and gifts of healing. These manifestations that are of the invisible gift, holy spirit, is evidence in the five senses of the power that dwells within God's children. We have the gift of holy spirit that we may communicate with God. We have the manifestations that we may hear from God, speak for God, and deliver God's people. The purpose: that we may tend the garden He has provided for us and show others also.
GOD
You plant Your WORD into the fertile soil of my heart
Where it is watered with tears of
Joy, Thankfulness, and Repentance
GOD
YOU are the Light which causes growth
You give the Increase
I tend that garden praying in the spirit and guarding my heart
GOD
I am not alone, I am a worker together with your Son
You are ever present causing my garden to flourish
