Receiving the Holy Spirit

How to Receive into Manifestation
the Pneuma Hagion

Living Abundantly
According to God's Word Series

Read Time: 5 Minutes

Before we receive anything from God we need to know, from God's Word, what is available, how to receive it and what to do with it after we've got it.

What is available?

We have seen that it is God's will for us to be saved and come unto a knowledge of the truth,

I Timothy 2
.4 Who will have all men to be saved,
and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God,
and one mediator between God and men,
        the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all,
to be testified in due time.

We must also rid ourselves of any and all fear regarding receiving the holy spirit and speaking in tongues. It is God's will for us to repent and be baptized in the holy spirit. It is God's will for us to live a more than abundant life filled with power. He gave the gift of holy spirit so we can walk and communicate with Him. It is the spiritual connect that Adam and Eve enjoyed prior to their transgressions. He gave the life of His son so that we could enter into the family of God; walk into that household.

God is rich in mercy and gave the holy spirit to those that believe Him because He is love. He did this so He could show us the exceeding riches of His grace.

Ephesians 2
:4 But God,
        who is rich in mercy,
for his great love wherewith he loved us,
:5     Even when we were dead in sins,
hath quickened us together with Christ,
         (by grace ye are saved;)
:6 And hath raised us up together,
and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
:7 That in the ages to come
he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace
in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
:9 Not of works,
        lest any man should boast.
:10 For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works,
which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

How do we receive the gift of holy spirit?

God has given the gift of holy spirit to all that will to receive it. God has given, we simply believe to receive. The gifts of God are received when we believe and are not earned. They are not a reward for work performed or merited due to good deeds; they are gifts. When we take God at His Word he is faithful to fulfill it and honor His promises.

Romans 10
:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
    thou shalt be saved.
:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;
and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Do you hunger and thirst after the things of God? Do you want to manifest the power chronicled in the book of Acts?

Acts 2
:4  And they [the apostles] were all filled with the Holy Ghost,
and began to speak with other tongues,
as the Spirit gave them utterance.

:38 Then Peter said unto them, [those that witnessed the speaking in tongues]
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
            for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
:39 For the promise is unto you,
        and to your children,
and to all that are afar off,
even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

We can be assured that God is faithful and true to His Word.

Luke 11
:11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father,
will he give him a stone?
or if he ask a fish,
will he for a fish give him a serpent?
:12 Or if he shall ask an egg,
will he offer him a scorpion?
:13 If ye then,
        being evil,
know how to give good gifts unto your children:
how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

God gave the gift of holy spirit on the day of Pentecost; it is now available to receive. God never mentions in His Word that He gave holy spirit after Pentecost, it was given once to mankind on Pentecost; it is now up to us to receive. Since God has given us the power and ability to speak in tongues when He filled us with holy spirit we can expect to speak in tongues. We have the ability to manifest the internal reality and presence of the holy spirit. Since speaking in tongues is a language of men or of angels and unknown to the person speaking it will be an inspired language. We cannot speak two languages at the same time so we must put away any thoughts of speaking words in any languages we know.

A method whereby you may receive the holy spirit into manifestation follows.

  1. Get quite and relaxed in a place without distractions.
        Psalm 46
        :10a "Be still, and know that I am God . . ."

  2. Thank God for His gift
There is no need to beg God for the holy spirit; it is already given, we no longer need to wait.

  3. Open your mouth and breathe in deeply, resting your head back to receive.
The work "inspiration" also means "in-breathing".
        Psalm 81
:10 "I am the LORD thy God,
which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:
open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
        Psalm 119
        :130  The entrance of thy words giveth light;
it giveth understanding unto the simple.
:131  I opened my mouth, and panted:
for I longed for thy commandments.
        John 7
:37 . . .  If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said,
out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit,
which they that believe on him should receive:
                for the Holy Ghost was not yet given;
because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
Jesus' instructions to the apostles on how to receive when holy spirit was given:
        John 20
:22 And when he had said this,
he breathed on [en, in; he breathed in] them [delete incorrectly supplied],
and said unto them, Receive [lambano] ye the Holy Ghost [pneuma hagion].
When the apostles received into manifestation:
        Acts 2
:2  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven
as of a rushing mighty wind, [should be translated "as of a heavy breathing"]
and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

  4. Now pray to God:
"Father, I now receive the holy spirit, the power from on high, which You made available through Jesus Christ."

  5. You begin to speak:
God gives you the words but you move your mouth, your tongue, and your lips. You push the air past your vocal cords, you begin to speak and God gives you the utterance, God gives you the words. You formulate the words as God gives them to your spirit and your spirit gives them to your mouth. What you speak is up to God, but that you speak is up to you. God is not going to posses or control you, you have freedom of will to start and to stop but you must begin to speak and God will fill you. Go ahead, begin, and speak in tongues much and boldly.

What to do with it after I've received into manifestation?

By speaking in tongues you: glorify God, speak the wonderful works of God, magnify God, pray perfectly, give thanks well, be edified spiritually, be strengthened with might in the inner man, and know that you are a joint-heir. The Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God; you now have undeniable proof!

Speak in tongues much.

Ephesians 1
:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:.

Do thank God and glorify Him for His gift to you and lovingkindness toward you.

Ephesians 3
:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages,
    world without end. Amen.
