Jesus Christ Our Passover Lamb

God sent us His Word that we may know Him. He sent us His son that we may be saved and come unto a knowledge of the truth.

When Adam sinned there was a separation between man and God. Where man was once body, soul and spirit man became incomplete and the spirit that God gave him originally died leaving man just body and soul. Consequently a redeemer was necessary to repair the rift and redeem man from the hand of the adversary.

In Exodus 12 God tells us of the first Passover which transpired while the Children of Israel lived in Egypt and had been put under bondage. The people were to select a lamb of the first year without blemish on the 10th of Nisan (the first month of the year). They were to keep it until the 14th and on that day they were to sacrifice it, put the blood on the doorposts and eat the roasted flesh. The blood cleansed them of the sins so the destroyer passed over them and the flesh gave them health. When the 2.3 million people (approximately--600,000 men plus wives and children) left Egypt there was not a feeble knee among them (Psalm 105:37).

Every year they were to observe the Passover for the remission of sins and health to their bodies. However, the sacrifice of animals never really cleansed them completely. Man needed a redeemer. God sent His son that we may be redeemed, bought back and made whole/complete, once again body, soul and spirit. Jesus Christ became our Passover Lamb:

John 1
:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith,
    Behold the Lamb of God,
        which taketh away the sin of the world.

:36 And looking upon Jesus as he [John the Baptist] walked, he saith,
        Behold the Lamb of God!

I Corinthians 5
:7b For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

I Peter 1
:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things,
        as silver and gold,
    from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
:19 But with the precious blood of Christ,
    as of a lamb without blemish
        and without spot:
:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world,
    but was manifest in these last times for you,
:21 Who by him do believe in God,
        that raised him up from the dead,
        and gave him glory;
    that your faith and hope might be in God.

He was sacrificed for us once and as the ultimate Passover Lamb. His blood was shed for our sins and his flesh given for our diseases. In our day and time we are to observe communion in remembrance of Jesus Christ. But, it is more than just a ceremony to remember Christ by.

I Corinthians 11
: 23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you,
    That the Lord Jesus
        the same night in which he was betrayed
    took bread:
:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said,
        Take, eat:
        this is my body,
            which is broken for you:
        this do in remembrance of me.
:25 After the same manner also he took the cup,
    when he had supped, saying,
        This cup is the new testament in my blood:
        this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
:26   For as often as ye eat this bread,
            and drink this cup,
        ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

Matthew 8
:17 . . . Himself [Jesus] took our infirmities [unwholeness],
    and bare our sicknesses.

We recognize that Jesus Christ died for our sins but many of us do not believe that he bare our sicknesses also. Communion's two elements are critical to recognize if we want to live the more than abundant life; you do don't you?

Psalms 103
:3 Who [God] forgiveth all thine iniquities;
    who healeth all thy diseases.

Isaiah 53
:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions,
    he was bruised for our iniquities:
    the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
    and with his stripes we are healed.

The two parts: sin and disease, were removed from the Children of Israel by the blood and body of the Passover lamb respectively. Since Jesus Christ is our Passover Lamb once and for all the sin and disease are removed by the blood of Christ and the flesh of Christ.

I Peter 2
:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree,
    that we,
        being dead to sins,
    should live unto righteousness:
    by whose stripes ye were healed.

God says we were healed, past tense. It is an accomplished work. Just like you have the right to ask for, demand, money from the bank where you have your deposits you can walk right up to God and ask for, demand, what God has given you. You can demand health. He has already put it on deposit in your account. There is nothing prideful or egotistical about this it is yours, come and get it, and, of course, with thanksgiving.

Christ was crucified that is in the past. Today we rejoice for he is risen!! There is power and deliverance in the resurrected Christ.

Colossians 1
:26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages
        and from generations,
    but now is made manifest to his saints:
:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles;
        which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

It is Christ in us, the gentiles, the hope of glory. All that Christ has done we can do also. Because he is resurrected we can live victoriously. There is much ado about the movie "The Passion of Christ." Please make a movie about the first century church and the power they exhibited. There is no power in his death. The power is in the resurrection! Fifty days after Christ was raised from the dead God played his ace on the day of Pentecost He gave those that believed on the resurrection of Christ holy spirit. This was the mystery hidden for all ages. Why?

I Corinthians 2
:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery,
        even the hidden wisdom,
        which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
:8 Which none of the princes of this world [Satan and his host] knew:
    for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Now that we have this Christ in us what do we do?

Colossians 3
:1 If ye then be risen with Christ,
    seek those things which are above,
    where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
:2 Set your affection on things above,
    not on things on the earth.
:3 For ye are dead,
    and your life is hid with Christ in God.
:4 When Christ,
        who is our life,
    shall appear,
    then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

When Christ returns we shall be with him.

:12 Put on therefore,
        as the elect of God,
        holy and beloved,
    bowels of mercies,
    kindness,
    humbleness of mind,
    meekness,
    longsuffering;
:13 Forbearing one another,
        and forgiving one another,
    if any man have a quarrel against any:
    even as Christ forgave you,
    so also do ye.
:14 And above all these things put on charity,
            [agape - the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation]
        which is the bond of perfectness.
:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,
    to the which also ye are called in one body;
    and be ye thankful.
:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
    teaching and admonishing one another in psalms
        and hymns and spiritual songs,
    singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed,
    do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
    giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Do all because Christ died for you
Do all because God raised him from the dead
Do all because you are redeemed
Do all because you will not be in the wrath to come but in his glory
Do all because you are seated in the heavenlies
Do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ because he is coming back!!
