The Words that We Speak
According to God's Word Series
Read Time: 5 Minutes
God's Word that is conceived in your heart, then formed by the tongue, and spoken out of your own mouth becomes a spiritual force releasing the power of God within you. 1
Hear this again; God's Word that is conceived in your heart, then formed by the tongue, and spoken out of your own mouth becomes a spiritual force releasing the power of God within you. 1
:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Paul spoke this truth because his heart (inner most being) had received the Word of God and he knew it was God in Christ in him and that the ability and power that resides within him was given to him by God, and out of the abundance of his heart his mouth spoke.
Words are powerful. God created, formed, and made the earth and all that lies therein with words. Consider the words of Jesus Christ:
:24 Therefore I say unto you,
What things soever ye desire,
when ye pray, [form that desire into words]
believe that ye receive them,
and ye shall have them.
Our challenge is to speak and pray according to the Word of God. Many Christians are praying the problem. Now you may think, "not so," but just listen to yourself. I have said myself, "My tendonitis is really acting up, I can hardly work." That is exactly the words that the adversary would have us to confess so that we confirm the problem and give him the glory. Shocking? You bet! Instead, "By the stripes of Jesus Christ I am healed; arm be strong, all tendons be reconciled with bone and the swelling subside." Then I continue working knowing that my arm must obey for I have the authority to say unto this 'mountain' "be thou removed and cast into the sea."
Here is another favorite. "I think I am catching a cold. Heavenly Father I don't feel good, I think I'm coming down with something [yup, you sure are, you just spoke it into being], please heal me." In reality by the stripes of Jesus Christ you were (past tense) healed and the symptoms that you are experiencing are a smoke screen.
:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge . . .
God's people are destroyed because they lack an accurate knowledge of God's Word when it comes to living life. Did you know that Jesus Christ came that we might have life and have it more abundantly? (John 10:10) Is your life more than abundant? Do you have everything you need and then some? John 10:10 also states that the thief comes to kill, steal and destroy. If you are not prospering you are giving credit to the adversary and there is a lack of knowledge and the wisdom to apply it. It is our requirement to diligently study the Word so that we can live to the Glory of God.
We have learned how to utilize the natural force of electricity. It is beneficial, powerful, and a necessity for most. But, if not treated according the laws governing it, it can be deadly. It can cause fires, explosions and electrocute you. The laws that are set up in God's Word are no less effective and powerful. However, they are life giving and life enriching.
:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you,
ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit;
so shall ye be my disciples.
In order to tap into the resources of the more than abundant life we need to do the Word of God. When God's Word abides in us we will see results. What is it to abide? It is to remain, to stay, to not leave, hang out, chill. Immerse yourselves in the Word daily so that it is evident that it is Christ in you (you will bear the fruit thereof Gal 5:22, 23) and whatsoever ye ask ye shall receive. This is how God is glorified, and we must always remember and thank Him.
When God's Word, which are spiritual words, abide in us, we will speak spiritual things.
:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things.
Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity:
so is the tongue among our members,
that it defileth the whole body,
and setteth on fire the course of nature;
and it is set on fire of hell.
:7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea,
is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
At first reading it looks like there is no hope of controlling our words, but, re-read verse 8, "But the tongue can no man tame". God has given us holy spirit that we may know spiritual matters and grow up in Christ. That is how we are going to tame our tongue. That is how we are going to speak God's Word instead of satan's lies.
How are we to reprogram our speech? How are we to control our tongue and align our thoughts and words to God's Word? First of all "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17. Read God's Word, listen to teachings and fellowship with other believers, speaking the Word to each other. While speaking, watch what we say, apply God's Word to facts/circumstances/opportunity.
What to say:
I honor the Lord with my substance and the first fruits of my increase. My barns are filled with plenty, and my presses burst forth with new wine. 2
:9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
:10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
There is no lack, for my God supplies all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 2
:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Jesus took my infirmities and bore my sicknesses. Therefore I refuse to allow sickness to dominate my body. The life of God flows within me bringing healing to every fiber of my being. 3
:33 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:
the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
I Peter 2
: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree,
that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:
by whose stripes ye were healed.
:23 For verily I say unto you,
That whosoever shall say unto this mountain,
Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass;
he shall have whatsoever he saith.
There are many more scripture that we need to know and claim.
We are living in a day and time when the healing and delivering power of God is manifested daily many-times over. Our blinders have been removed and we can speak the Word knowing that it goes unto where ever we send it, that it is profitable, powerful and effective. For this we are eternally thankful and give all the glory to God, our heavenly Father.
