The Impact of Our Words

Living Abundantly
According to God's Word Series

Read Time:  10 Minutes

We have learned that the words that we speak are power-filled words. God set it up this way, but why did He do that?

John 16
:23  And in that day ye shall ask me nothing.
    Verily, verily, I say unto you,
    Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
:24  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name:
    ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Why has God given us the authority to come before Him boldly and ask of Him? Ask and we shall receive, that our joy may be full. That word full is pleroo in the Greek which means filled to capacity, there is no more room, nothing more required. This is a promise in God's Word for you and me. We have been adopted in the family of God (Ephesians 1:5), the body of Christ, and we are to have life and have it more than abundantly (John 10:10). We are ambassadors for Christ (II Corinthians 5:20), we are representatives of Christ on earth in this day and time. We are the spokespersons for God. The goodness of God leads men to repentance (Romans 2:4) we are to manifest that goodness.

John 15
:7  If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you,
    ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
:8  Herein is my Father glorified,
    that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

When we are doing well, when we bear much fruit (Galatians 5:22 and 23 love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance). When we, as ambassadors of Christ, exhibit these qualities of life, we glorify God.

:9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love;
        even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you,
    and that your joy might be full. [pleroo]

Abiding in the love of God and doing the Word of God allows us to abide in the love of Christ and his joy will remain in us and our joy may be full, and when God fills He does it perfectly. If you take some time and look up the occurrences of joy in the new testament and gospels you will see that it is used 60 times and it is wonderful to take the time to study.

Since God has said that we could have what we ask for as we keep His commands and abide in His love we need to watch what we say and ask for. We need to all realize that it is the Word of God abiding in us that causes us to believe God's Word beyond a shadow of a doubt (faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, Romans 10:17).

Let us see some of the effects of God's Words.

Genesis 1
:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth

How did He do that?

Hebrews 11
:3  Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God,
    so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Words have no mass, no physical appearance, our world and all the planets and stars in the universe that hold our world in place were created by the words that God spoke.  Powerful!!

After Satan attempted to usurp the throne of God he was cast out of heaven and it made the world become without form and void

Genesis 1
:2  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

God spoke and it came into being.

We know that Satan beguiled Eve and Adam went along with it and then Satan received the dominion and authority over the world. But then Jesus Christ was born and lived a sinless life, and with his death and resurrection, fulfilled the law redeeming us from it, buying back the dominion and authority over the world. We were held captive by the adversary but Jesus Christ lead captivity captive (Ephesians 4:8), more precisely he lead our captor captive so we are now free from Satan's dominance and we have the original power and authority returned to us.

God brought to pass the (seemingly) impossible when Mary said, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word." (Luke 1:36) and she became pregnant without laying with a man. God told Mary via the angel that with God nothing is impossible and with her words she accepted the promise that she was going to bring forth the Son of God and call his name Jesus.

Jesus Christ had all power and authority (Matthew 28:18) and before he ascended he gave that to us who believe.

Mark 16
:15 And he [Jesus Christ] said unto them,
        Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
:16    He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;
            but he that believeth not shall be damned.
:17    And these signs shall follow them that believe;
         In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
:18    They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them;
        they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
:19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them,
    he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

The key is to believe. We have been accepted into the household of God by adoption and given full right and privileges (Ephesians 1:5-19 ). We have the same power and authority that Jesus Christ has. We need to act like it. If you were the child of wealthy parents would you act like you had need of food and clothes? NO! I can do all things because God has given me the authority and power to do it! I know this because God's Word abides in my heart. My desire is to do the will of God and walk with Him. When you are absolutely convinced of who you are and what is available you are unstoppable. Your spirit knows and is the power of God--you must learn how to use it.

Jesus Christ taught us how:

Mark 11
:12  And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he [Jesus Christ] was hungry:
:13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon:
    and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
:14 And Jesus answered and said unto it,
        No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever.
    And his disciples heard it.

You know what happened to that tree; the next morning it was dried up from the roots (it died backwards even). Jesus Christ cursed that tree. Watch your mouth that you don't curse anything. If you speak anything contrary to what is promised in God's Word, anything that is less than the more than abundant life, anything less than health and wholeness you are cursing it. What is promised? By his stripes I was healed or am I saying that I am sick, or have cancer, or have arthritis, or have a screwy metabolism, or my thyroid doesn't work anymore or . . . Satan's lies are endless. And that is just what they are--lies. You have been redeemed from the captor.

We have been so world conditioned. All sickness no longer has any right to your body, you have been bought back. That is why God tells us to not be conformed to the world, it is sin, sickness, and death. We need to renew our minds to the Word of God and be spiritually conditioned. God had Paul write, "I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me." (Philippians 4:13)  because he can, no matter the circumstances or facts. We can do all things as well because we are convinced of His Word. What God said, He will bring to pass. Watch what you say:

Mark 11
:23 For verily I say unto you,
        That whosoever shall say unto this mountain,
            Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;
            and shall not doubt in his heart,
            but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass;
        he shall have whatsoever he saith.
:24 Therefore I say unto you,
        What things soever ye desire,
            when ye pray,
        believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Do you honestly believe in your heart that you have a certain illness or problem? It is manifested in your life isn't it? We need to get to the place where we believe the Word of God instead of the lies of the captor which we have been freed from.

Do you doubt your faith in the Word which is believing the Word?

Romans 10
:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Also, build your faith by praying in the spirit; speak in tongues.

Jude 1
:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

This is what God has said to us. Take Him as His Word. When you come before God praise Him. Speak His promises that pertain to your situation. You don't have to confess the lies the devil is trying to impose on your life; speak the Word which is spiritual power, and thank God for all that He continually does for you and all His saints. When you come before God don't say something along these lines, "I just can't seem to make ends meet here God. The economy is turning bad  and so many are being laid off, and things are getting more expensive, and I'm afraid I'm going to be next. Please help me keep my job, amen."

What have you just done? Did God say your livelihood depends on the economy or Him? Didn't Jesus Christ come that we could have life and have it more abundantly? Do you believe that? If you are not absolutely convinced of that you need to get your head into the Word continuously. At every opportunity speak out loud the promises  of God and you will believe it in your heart and you will see it come to pass. God says so. So pray like this instead:

"Dear wonderful heavenly Father, I am so thankful that you have called me to your family to be a joint heir with Christ and walk with your power in this world. I know that you take care of all my needs and I need have no fear or anxiety regarding anything. Your grace is sufficient for me and I can walk boldly upon this earth declaring your wonderful works. Thanks for always meeting my needs abundantly above all that I could ask or think. To you I give all the glory and praise, I love you. In the name of Christ Jesus, Amen."

When you speak God's Word you have unleashed the spiritual power behind it. God's Word is effective and will never return void, it will accomplish that which God pleases.

Isaiah 55
1  Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters,
    and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat;
    yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread?
        and your labour for that which satisfieth not?
    hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good,
        and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live;
    and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.
5 Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not,
    and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God,
        and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.
6  Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts:
    and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him;
        and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
    neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
    so are my ways higher than your ways,
    and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither,
        but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud,
            that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void,
        but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace:
    the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing,
    and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree,
    and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree:
    and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

Replace your thoughts with God's thoughts, His Word. That Word which comes out of your mouth is effectual and will prosper in the thing whereto you send it.

To God be the Glory!!
